1. Issue an AI key
An administrator creates a REST API key in Vantage Security, turns on AI access, and chooses which modules and tables it can read.
ADG Vantage supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open standard AI assistants use to work with outside systems. Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or a model you host yourself, and ask about vendors, accounts, budgets, and work orders. The assistant reads only the data you grant, every call is logged, and it's included with Vantage at no additional cost.

Add your Vantage server's MCP address and the key to your AI client. The assistant discovers the tables it has been granted.
Type a question the way you'd ask a colleague. The assistant looks up the schema, queries the rows it needs, and answers from your live data.
Finance directors, utility managers, and department heads spend hours pulling reports to answer one-off questions. With MCP, the assistant runs the lookup for them.
Answers depend on the tables granted to the key. Examples are illustrative.
MCP is supported across the major AI assistants. Vantage connects with an API key, so setup varies a little by client.
Claude Desktop and Claude Code connect directly to your Vantage MCP address with the key. This is the quickest setup today.
ChatGPT custom connectors reach Vantage over public HTTPS. They expect OAuth or open access, so the key is supplied through a small authenticating proxy.
Copilot agent modes that support MCP servers can call Vantage the same way. A good fit for organizations already standardized on Microsoft 365.
Any other assistant that supports remote MCP servers with an API key can connect as well, including models your organization hosts on its own servers.
AI access runs on the same REST API security model Vantage integrations already use, with controls aimed at assistants.
Assistants can describe tables, query rows, and fetch records. Changes to data stay in Vantage, under each user's normal permissions.
Each AI key carries its own module and table grants. Anything outside those grants is invisible to the assistant, not just refused.
Each request an assistant makes is recorded against its key, so you can see what was asked of your data and when.
Set an hourly call limit per key to keep usage predictable and protect server performance.
Works for cloud-hosted Vantage and for on-prem servers with the REST API enabled, reachable over your network or VPN.
The key is checked on every request. Turn off AI access or retire the key in Vantage Security, and the assistant loses access on its next call.
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to outside systems through a common interface. ADG Vantage includes an MCP server, so MCP-capable assistants can read the Vantage data you grant them.
MCP access is included with ADG Vantage at no additional cost. You use it with the AI assistant of your choice, under that provider's own licensing.
Vantage doesn't send data to any AI provider on its own. It answers requests from the assistant your organization connects, through the secured REST API, and only from the tables you've granted. Where the data goes next depends on the assistant you choose: a cloud assistant processes it with that provider, and an on-premise model keeps it on your servers.
The Vantage MCP server is read-only. Its tools describe tables, query rows, and fetch individual records. Creating, updating, and deleting records stays in Vantage, under your normal user permissions.
Only the modules and tables granted to the API key it connects with. Each key is configured in Vantage Security, and tables outside its grants are invisible to the assistant.
Yes. Cloud-hosted and on-prem Vantage both support MCP. On-prem servers need the Vantage REST API enabled, and the AI client must be able to reach your server over your network or VPN.
Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers with an API key, whether it runs in the cloud or on your own servers. Claude Desktop and Claude Code connect directly. ChatGPT custom connectors and Microsoft Copilot's MCP-capable agent modes also work, with some extra setup for authentication.

Bring the questions your team asks every week, and we'll show how an AI assistant answers them from Vantage.
